Sample setup

    For example, consider a typical case: a server with 2 network interfaces, one of which is connected to the Internet, and the other - to the local network, where there is UDP-multicast broadcasting. Our task: to receive the channel from the multicast address "" and to transfer it on the HLC protocol to the Internet.

    Open the Dashboard tab (home page).
    In the upper right corner, click on the "New Stream" button and go to the channel adding tab.

    Step 1:

    Fill in the field 1: NAME
    (for example "TEST")
    In INPUT LIST press the gear symbol to open the protocol selection window. Select the UDP protocol from the drop-down list.


    After that, open the media address settings page. Fill in the required fields: (necessary fields are highlighted in red)

    Explanation: if the routes to multicast groups are correctly specified on the server, the local interface tab is not used. Otherwise, disable the rp filter and select the network interface connected to the multicast network from the drop-down list.

    Step 2:

    In OUTPUT LIST press the gear symbol button to open the protocol selection window.
    Select the HTTP/HLS protocol from the drop-down list.

    Step 3:

    The outgoing media address settings window opens.
    Fill in the fields as shown in the example (necessary fields are highlighted in red).
    (If you want to use the function HTTP Play - not to fill in the line of the outgoing media address)


    Step 4:

    Pay attention at the media addresses in input and output settings:
    These are the usual media addresses that can be written without the help of a web assistant.

    Step 5:

    Save the stream and see its status in the web interface:


    Astra has successfully subscribed to this stream.

    Check broadcasting: open any player, for example VLC and perform the steps: "File->Open network" - in the window that appears, fill in the media address: "http://server ip address:8001/test.m3u8"
    After clicking "Open" - our test stream should appear on the screen.
